In 2008 EALA created an annual prize for legal essays on European air law in the broadest sense of the term. This covers issues of EC law generally as relevant to aviation, specific EC aviation law, and the relationship between EC law and national and/or international law in the context of aviation.
Every year a jury is formed from the Members of the EALA Committee of Management, who will make a decision before 23rd September.
The EALA Prize consists of free admission to the next annual conference of EALA, at which the author may present a synopsis of the essay, and recognition on www.eala.aero.
Essays may be submitted by:
•graduate or undergraduate students,
•practitioners starting their careers (less than 3 years post-qualification experience) or
•academic staff starting their careers (less than 3 years experience).
There is no restriction based on country of nationality or residence of the author.
If you would like to participate in the contest for the EALA Prize, the deadline for contributions is 1 September each year.
The essays submitted for the EALA Prize will be judged according to the following criteria (in random order):
•grasp of the subject;
•powers of criticism;
•originality;
•diligence in the research;
•quality of the presentation;
•maximum of 40 pages;
•written in English.
It is a condition of entry that EALA has the right to publish any of the papers in any form.
The decision of the jury will be final and members of neither the jury nor the Committee will enter into any discussions about it.
Contributions may be sent to Mr. Rodolfo A. González-Lebrero at: rod.lebrero@lebreroandco.com
We look forward to receiving submissions.
