4th Copenhagen Aircraft Finance Legal Seminar 21st and 22nd February 2013
The European Air Law Association hosts its 4th Copenhagen Air Finance Legal Seminar on 22 February 2013, starting with a dinner on the evening of 21 February 2013 as usual. The seminar is, as always, held at the Skt. Petri Hotel in the centre of Copenhagen.
We have managed to put together an interesting programme with highly esteemed air finance experts who will be discussing topical and complex issues and share their expertise and experience with the delegates. The programme can be downloaded here and some of the issues which will be covered are summarized below.
Get the legal and the practical take on the aircraft/engine redelivery process and the ins and outs of managing the process, including the inherent complications from lawyers, airline and lessor.
Moderated by: Thomas Zimmer, Holland and Knight, San Francisco
This recurring panel, skillfully moderated by Gavin Hill, has been one of the more popular panels among the delegates through the years. Highly topical and always greatly experienced panelists.
Moderated by: Gavin Hill, Vedder Price, London
In 2010, the seminar introduced a mock case panel where the interested parties in an aircraft lease were ‘represented’. This year, the mock case will be on the – unfortunately – quite topical ‘distressed airline’ and will mainly focus on the interested parties’ take on how to handle the issues related to a distressed airline with focus on the legal issues and problems arising therefrom. The panel will cover the bank interest, the lessor interest and we have the luck of having Eurocontrol on the panel as well – great discussions envisaged!
Moderated by: Morten L. Jakobsen, Gorrissen Federspiel, Copenhagen
Again this year, we have the renowned John Cruse to give us all an update on what is happening on the insurance market – and what has happened since last. With John’s vast experience with and standing in the aviation insurance market, this recurring update is always very interesting and useful for all practitioners.
Speaker: John Cruse, JLT Aerospace, London
Also in challenged times, new sources of finance and modified finance models are developed and a lot of interesting finance structures and funds sourcing are being made available. Do they work and do they assist in providing what’s required in the challenged finance market? This panel presents the revisiting of the EETCs and the new German finance source, the aircraft covered bond.
Panelists: Sibylle Pähler, Doric Asset Finance, Offenbach am Main and Matthias Reuleaux, NordLB, Hannover
